Our History

Two decades of serving Antigua & Barbuda's pensioners

Our Journey

2000 - The Beginning

A group of retired government workers came together to form the Antigua and Barbuda Pensioners Association. The founding members recognized the need for a unified voice to represent the interests of pensioners across the twin-island nation.

2002 - Official Registration

The Association was successfully registered under the laws of Antigua and Barbuda in accordance with the Friendly Societies Act, Cap. 184. This formal recognition marked a significant step in establishing the Association's legal standing and ability to advocate more effectively for pensioners' rights.

2005 - Expansion of Services

The association expanded its services to include health and wellness programs, recognizing that physical and mental well-being are crucial for our senior community.

2011 - Recognition and Growth

ABPA membership grew to over 300 members, and the association gained official recognition from the government as a key stakeholder in pension-related policy discussions.

2020 - Pandemic Response

During the COVID-19 pandemic, ABPA played a crucial role in supporting vulnerable pensioners, providing information, assistance, and ensuring access to essential services.

2022 - 20th Anniversary

ABPA celebrated its 20th anniversary with a series of events and launched new initiatives focused on financial literacy and estate planning for pensioners.

2025 - Digital Transformation

The association is embracing technology, launching its first website and implementing digital communication systems to better serve members across both islands.
