1. Name and Objectives
1.1 Name
The Association shall be called "The Antigua and Barbuda Pensioners Association" (hereinafter referred to as "the Association").
1.2 Objectives
The objectives of the Association shall be:
- To promote and protect the interests and welfare of pensioners in Antigua and Barbuda
- To advocate for improved pension benefits and conditions
- To provide support and assistance to members
- To foster social interaction and community among pensioners
- To collaborate with government and other organizations on pension-related matters
- To promote health and well-being among members
2. Membership
2.1 Eligibility
Membership shall be open to:
- Retired workers from both public and private sectors
- Persons receiving pension benefits
- Spouses of deceased pensioners
- Honorary members as approved by the Committee
2.2 Application Process
Prospective members must:
- Complete an application form
- Provide proof of retirement or pension status
- Pay the required membership fee
- Be approved by the Committee
2.3 Membership Fees
Annual membership fees shall be determined by the Committee and approved by the general membership at the Annual General Meeting.
3. Committee Structure
3.1 Executive Committee
The Executive Committee shall consist of:
- President
- Vice President
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- Committee Members (up to 6 additional members)
3.2 Election of Committee
Committee members shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting for a term of two years. Elections shall be staggered to ensure continuity.
3.3 Committee Meetings
The Committee shall meet at least once per month, with additional meetings as required. A quorum shall consist of at least 50% of Committee members.
4. General Meetings
4.1 Annual General Meeting
The Annual General Meeting shall be held within three months of the end of the financial year. The meeting shall:
- Receive and approve the annual report
- Receive and approve the financial statements
- Elect Committee members
- Consider any other business
4.2 Special General Meetings
Special General Meetings may be called by the Committee or upon the written request of at least 20% of the membership.
4.3 Quorum
A quorum for General Meetings shall be 25% of the total membership.
5. Financial Management
5.1 Financial Year
The financial year shall run from January 1st to December 31st.
5.2 Bank Account
The Association shall maintain a bank account in its name. All funds shall be deposited in this account.
5.3 Financial Records
The Treasurer shall maintain proper financial records and prepare annual financial statements for presentation at the Annual General Meeting.
6. Amendments to Constitution
This Constitution may be amended by a two-thirds majority vote at a General Meeting, provided that notice of the proposed amendment has been given to all members at least 30 days in advance.
7. Dissolution
The Association may be dissolved by a three-quarters majority vote at a Special General Meeting. In the event of dissolution, any remaining assets shall be distributed to a charitable organization as determined by the membership.
8. Adoption
This Constitution was adopted on [Date] and supersedes all previous constitutions.
